The Bambu Lab H2 Series Explained: Which H2 Is for You?

Bambu Lab launched the H2D on March 25, 2025, and it was the first printer in what became the H2 series. Three more followed that same year: the H2D Pro on August 11, the H2S on August 26, and the H2C, which Bambu announced at Formnext on November 18. That makes four big, enclosed H2 printers, and on top of that Bambu launched the H3C tool changer today.

Prices below are from Bambu’s US store. Bambu’s Black Friday sale runs until December 1st, so we have listed the normal price first and the sale price in parentheses.

What Every H2 Has

All four printers share the same core. They have 350°C nozzles, a 120°C bed, an actively heated chamber that reaches 65°C, a PMSM servo extruder, and a 1000 mm/s top speed with 20,000 mm/s² acceleration. That chamber heater is the big difference from the P2S and X1C, and it is what makes the H2 series a good fit for nylon, PC, and carbon fiber filaments.

H2S: The Biggest Single Nozzle

The H2S has one nozzle and the largest build volume in Bambu’s lineup at 340 x 320 x 340 mm. Bambu called it the “bigger X1C” at launch and says it has 220% of the X1C’s volume. It launched at $1,249, and it is cheaper now:

  • H2S: $1,199 ($1,049)
  • H2S AMS Combo: $1,399 ($1,249)
  • H2S Laser Full Combo (10W): $1,799 ($1,599)

This is the H2 for people who want size and engineering filaments without the extra steps that come with two nozzles.

H2D: Two Nozzles and a Laser Option

The H2D has two nozzles on one toolhead. With a single nozzle the build volume is 325 x 320 x 325 mm, and if you load the same filament in both nozzles you can use 350 mm of width. The second nozzle is great for support material or a second filament type, since the printer does not have to purge every time it switches. It also comes in laser versions with a 10W or 40W laser plus a cutting module. Prices have dropped a lot since its $1,899 launch price:

  • H2D: $1,549 ($1,399)
  • H2D AMS Combo: $1,749 ($1,599)
  • H2D Laser Full Combo (10W): $2,149 ($1,949)
  • H2D Laser Full Combo (40W): $2,699 ($2,399)

There is also some good news for H2D owners. Bambu posted today that the H2D will be able to use nozzles with different orifice sizes in the same print, for example a fine nozzle for detail and a larger one for infill. Bambu estimates the update for November 2026 without a filament track switch and February 2027 with one.

H2C: Up to 7 Filaments Without Purging

The H2C is built on the H2D, but the right nozzle can be swapped automatically. Bambu calls this the Vortek system. It holds six extra hotends on the side of the chamber, and each one heats up by induction and remembers which filament it was last used with. Bambu says the H2C can print up to 7 colors or materials in one job with no purging between them, and up to 24 filaments with AMS units. The trade off is a slightly smaller build volume of 305 x 320 x 325 mm with one nozzle.

The H2C launched at $2,399 with an AMS 2 Pro, and Tom’s Hardware reported that US buyers would have to wait until December 2025 because of tariffs. Today:

  • H2C AMS Combo: $2,199 ($1,899)
  • H2C Vortek Ultimate Bundle: $2,499 ($2,129)
  • H2C Laser Full Combo (10W): $2,599 ($2,249)
  • H2C Laser Full Combo (40W): $3,149 ($2,699)

Bambu says the H2C gets the mixed nozzle size update too, estimated for February 2027.

H2D Pro: For Businesses

The H2D Pro is an H2D built for companies and schools. It comes with tungsten carbide nozzles, an Ethernet port, a physical network kill switch, WPA2 Enterprise Wi-Fi, and the Vision Encoder, and Bambu says both an AMS 2 Pro and an AMS HT are included. It launched at $3,799, but it is only sold through Bambu’s authorized resellers, so there is no price on the US store. Unless your IT department has network rules, the regular H2D makes more sense.

Which H2 Should You Buy?

Big prints in one material: the H2S. It is the cheapest H2 and has the most space.

Supports in a different material, or a laser: the H2D. The AMS Combo at $1,599 on sale is a great deal for a dual nozzle printer this size.

Lots of multicolor MakerWorld models: the H2C, or take a look at the H3C, which costs $2,499 with nine tools.

Office or school with network rules: the H2D Pro, through a reseller.

None of the above: you probably do not need an H2 at all. The P2S does most everyday printing for $549, and the X2D gives you two nozzles for $649. Our guide on which Bambu AMS to buy covers what to add to any of them.

All in all, the H2 series has something for almost every kind of serious printing, and the Black Friday sale takes a good chunk off every one of them. Pick the H2S for size, the H2D for two nozzles, and the H2C if multicolor printing is your main thing.
