Bambu Handy Adds a Print Queue and Filament Inventory
On June 10, 2026, Bambu Lab released one of the biggest updates to Bambu Handy, its phone app for Bambu printers. The announcement on the Bambu Lab forum covers a redesigned device page, a new print queue, and a filament inventory that keeps track of your spools. It has been almost five months now, so here is what the update added, what is still missing, and how to get the most out of it.
A Redesigned Device Page
The most obvious change is the layout. Bambu moved printer status, print progress, nozzle temperature and filament into one view, so you can see everything as soon as the Device Page opens. Print speed and the light switch are now on the main screen too, so you do not have to dig through menus to change them. When the printer is idle, the Device Page also shows collections of MakerWorld models.
Not everything went smoothly at first. A few users on the forum said the current layer number disappeared after the update. By June 12, users reported it was back under the progress percentage after another app update.
The Print Queue
This is the feature a lot of users have been asking for. You can now line up prints in Handy, and when one finishes, the queue starts the next job right away. For example, if you are printing a set of parts on different plates, you can add them all and let the printer work through them without opening Bambu Studio each time.
Bambu has not shared many details on how the queue works, and we could not find a wiki page for it yet. One user asked for the ability to queue files that are already on the printer or its SD card, which suggests that is not possible right now. Also keep in mind that the printer does not clear the plate by itself. Be sure the build plate is empty and ready before the next job starts, or you could end up printing on top of the last one!
Filament Inventory
The other big addition is a Filament Management hub in the app. Spools you load through the AMS sync to your library automatically, and you can add any other spool by hand with its brand, color, type and weight. Spools are grouped by filament type, so it is easy to see what you have on the shelf before you start a project.
This is the same inventory as the Filament Manager in Bambu Studio, which first showed up in the Bambu Studio 2.6.1 beta in April. Bambu’s release notes say the data is stored in Bambu Cloud and synced between Bambu Studio and Bambu Handy, so a spool you add on your phone shows up on your computer too. Bambu Studio 2.8.1 later added the option to bind spools from the Filament Manager to printer slots from the device page.
There are a couple of limits. Bambu Studio’s release notes say adding or editing spools and syncing the remaining amount only work while you are connected to the internet. Spools without Bambu’s RFID tags also have to be added by hand, so if you use a lot of third-party filament, setting up your inventory will take a few minutes.
Who Can Use It
Handy needs Bambu’s cloud. The Bambu Handy wiki says the app “does not currently support printer LAN mode” and uses the internet to talk to the printer. If you switched your printer to LAN Only mode or Developer Mode to send prints from OrcaSlicer, the queue and the filament sync will not work for that printer. We go over those trade-offs in our post on Bambu Authorization Control and OrcaSlicer.
How to Update
Handy usually updates through the App Store or Google Play like any other app. Bambu also says you can check from inside the app under Settings > About the App. If you do not see the new Device Page, update the app first, then reopen it.
- Add your spools once. This is a great way to stop buying a color you already own. Start with your third-party spools, since the AMS handles Bambu spools for you.
- Use the queue for batch prints. It works best when you can clear the plate between jobs, so plan around when you will be near the printer.
- Keep Bambu Studio updated too. The inventory syncs both ways, so an old version of Studio may not show the same spools.
All in all, this update makes Handy much more useful day to day. The print queue is still basic and the inventory takes some setup for third-party spools, but having your printer status, next job and filament shelf in one app is a big step up. If you want to put your spools to work, check out Spooly!
